Clarke Elementary School will be receiving a therapy dog for use by the school as of Spring Break 2022. Our Therapy dog has been provided therapy training by CARES Inc. out of Concordia Kansas for all of its young life. Staff handlers of the dog have also been provided a week long training covering the ins and outs of utilizing therapy dogs in schools. Therapy dogs have been used in many districts around the state and the country and have proved to be massively beneficial to schools. Therapy dogs have been proven to settle uneasiness, and reduce anxiety in schools simply by being present.
This questionnaire is used to ensure the safety and well-being of all students at Clarke. Although there are many benefits of having a therapy dog present, Clarke Community Elementary School understands that there are some hesitations when it comes to students being around a dog. Please fill out the form below if you or your students have any circumstances where you would want to prevent them from interacting with the school therapy dog. You will only need to fill out the form if you are requesting your student to have zero interaction with the therapy animal.
