🎉 Clarke Middle School wrapped up the first quarter with an exciting assembly today, celebrating the achievements and hard work of our students and staff! 🎉 Students and staff gathered to honor our Leaders of the Quarter (school-wide) and Students of the Quarter (by grade), recognizing those who truly shined this quarter! We also cheered on our fall sports teams for their dedication and accomplishments. The assembly ended with an unforgettable teachers vs. students basketball game, where both sides brought their A-game! 🏀💪 After a nail-biting finish, the teachers claimed victory, but the real winners are our students who gave their all this quarter! Here's to a fantastic start to the school year—let's keep up the momentum, Clarke Middle School! 🏆👏 ----- 🎉 ¡La Escuela Secundaria Clarke celebró el fin del primer trimestre con una emocionante asamblea hoy, celebrando los logros y el esfuerzo de nuestros estudiantes y personal! 🎉 Estudiantes y personal se reunieron para honrar a nuestros Líderes del Trimestre (a nivel escolar) y Estudiantes del Trimestre (por grado), reconociendo a aquellos que realmente brillaron este trimestre. ¡También animamos a nuestros equipos deportivos de otoño por su dedicación y logros! ☕️ Did you know? ☕️ Our awesome Clarke Middle School students run the Coffee Shop right here on campus! 🥤 Students volunteer at the start of the year to serve up delicious drinks every morning from 7:30-7:50. Over time, they've added popular favorites like smoothies, flavored lemonades, frappes, and any espresso latte you can imagine (all the syrups included!). And new this year, by popular demand—the Starbucks-inspired PINK drink! 💖

Two Clarke seventh grade band members were accepted into South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) Honor Bands. The SCIBA Honor Band Festival will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the auditorium at Ankeny Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa. Students from 75 schools located in the south central portion of Iowa will rehearse together during the afternoon and present a concert for the public in the evening. Each of the three honor bands has approximately 100 participants. The Kinney Band will perform at 6:30 PM, followed by the Leeper Band at 7:00 PM. The Modlin Band will perform at 7:30 PM. The admission fee for audience members is $3 for adults and $2 for non-participating students. Josie Turpin, a seventh grade clarinet player, was chosen to participate in the Leeper Band. The Leeper Band is composed of a combination of eighth grade students who auditioned to earn their place, as well as seventh grade students who were nominated by their band directors. In addition, Ava Surls, a seventh grade clarinet player, was chosen to represent Clarke in the Kinney Band. The Kinney Band consists solely of seventh grade musicians who were nominated by their band directors.
