🏆📚 Clarke Middle School is proud to announce that Maahir Desai has earned first place in the US History Quiz Bowl! 🥇🌟 Maahir competed against 58 8th grade students and emerged victorious, showcasing impressive knowledge and dedication to the subject.
Congratulations are also in order for the other finalists: Macayla Hicks, Luke Wade, and Ximena Zayago Yepez. 🎉👏 These four students were the final four out of all participants, demonstrating exceptional understanding of US history.

🥇Masan Redman, 8th grader at Clarke Middle School, competed at the Iowa State Archery Tournament in March. He shot 284 in bullseye and 281 in 3D to finish 6th and 9th place, respectively. As a top 10 archer in his division, Masan qualifies for the 2024 NASP Eastern National Tournament which will be held in Louisville, KY May 9-11. Masan is the first archer at Clarke to compete back-to-back in bullseye at Nationals and the first to qualify in 3D.

The 7th and 8th Grade Spring Band Concert is tonight at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Admission is free. This performance is required for all 7th and 8th grade band members. Students should dress up in the best clothes that they have and be in the band room by 6:30 PM to warm up their instruments.

The 5th and 6th grade spring band concert is Thursday, April 25th. Band students need to be in the 6th grade middle school band room at the high school by 6:30 for warm-up. The concert will start at 7:00pm. This is a required performance for all 5th and 6th grade band students. The doors will open by 6:00pm.

Twelve middle school band members will be representing Clarke in the South Central Conference Honor Band on Monday, March 25, 2024. Other schools in the conference include Albia, Cardinal, Centerville, Chariton, Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, and Knoxville. Each school is sending seventh and eighth grade students to participate in this honor band. Cardinal will host the event this year. The Clarke Seventh Grade Band will be represented by Arrianna Parrish-Day (flute), Naomi Medrano (bass clarinet), Nanzy Tolentino (tenor saxophone), Neo Mora (bari saxophone), and Natalie Patino (French Horn). The Clarke Eighth Grade Band will be represented by Liliana Contreras (clarinet), Parker Truitt (clarinet), Luke Wade (alto saxophone), Macayla Hicks (trumpet), Jack White (trombone), Dylan Struble (tuba), and Joey Turpin (percussion). All of these band members are students of Christie Stortenbecker, the seventh and eighth grade band director at Clarke.
Students have been given four pieces of music to practice in advance of the honor band. On March 25, all of the students from the various schools will rehearse together at Cardinal Schools during the afternoon as an ensemble for the first time. That evening, they will present a concert for the public. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Middle/High School Gym in Eldon, Iowa. Admission to the concert is $3 per adult and $2 per student. The guest conductor will be Jim Edgeton.

Middle school students and staff celebrated Snowcoming last week! Students participated in dress-up days during the week, enjoyed fun activities during advisory, held their annual Snowcoming coronation on Friday afternoon, and finished off the week with the Snowcoming dance on Friday night.
