Eighth Graders will be taking a field trip to see the Iowa Wolves on Tuesday, February 6th, at 10:30. The game will be played in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena. Students will need to bring their own lunch or sign up for the school to provide one. Students can also bring money for concessions at the game. Clarke High School Student Council and the Clarke Teachers’ Association are collaborating for a Food Drive to create Holiday meals for the Clarke Schools Food Pantry! Please see the images for the requested items.

The 7th and 8th Grade Winter Band Concert is tonight at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Admission is free. This performance is required for all 7th and 8th grade band members. Students should dress up in the best clothes that they have and be in the band room by 6:30 PM to warm up their instruments. The 5th and 6th grade winter band concert is on December 7th in the high school auditorium. The band students need to arrive at 6:30 for warm-up. They will meet in the sixth-grade band room. 6th Grade students are excited for their field trip to attend the Drake Basketball game on Friday, December 8th in Des Moines! Students will need to bring their own lunch or sign up for the school to provide one. Congratulations to 8th graders Maahir Desai, Kenley Chesnut and Kaleb Short for being the winners of the foil boat competition in the Middle School TAG classes. Students designed and constructed boats out of aluminum foil to see how many pennies, dimes, and nickels each could hold before sinking. Maahir's boat held a total of 187 pennies, 83 dimes, and 10 nickels before it sank! That's A LOT of cargo!!! Kenley's and Kaleb's boats each held 183 pennies, 10 nickels, 84 dimes, 7 quarters, and, because Mrs. Schlichte ran out of change, 17 little round magnets!!! And, both boats were actually still floating! The winners received a king sized candy bar! Congratulations Maahir, Kenley and Kaleb! On the 18th of November, the Clarke High School esports team will be hosting a 6th through 12th grade Super Smash Brothers tournament for the state of Iowa. Schools from all over will be coming to compete for the trophy of the South Central Smash Tournament. Entry is $10 and all Iowa’s high school students are welcome to attend. Colleges will be present for scouting and prizes go out to the top 3 winners. It is a double-elimination tournament. At the end of October middle school advisors competed in their annual pumpkin decorating contest. This year's winning advisory was Mrs. Johnson! 2nd place went to Mr. Battani, and 3rd place to Mrs. Mathews. A special shout out to Mr. Spalding and his students for volunteering to make this year's trophy! Many students worked on the design, Drake Wright's design being the one chosen. Let’s Dance! The Middle School is hosting a Halloween dance on Thursday, October 19th from 6-8 pm! Students may wear a school-appropriate Halloween costume. The cost is $3 per person. The dance is on a Thursday due to no school on Friday, October 20th. Vamos a Bailar! La escuela secundaria está organizando un Baile De Halloween el jueves, 19 de octubre de 6-8pm! Clarke Middle School Students are challenging each other, working together, and learning new skills during CMS Club time each week! Monthly, students have the opportunity to pick a club that interests them. Each month CMS teachers create new clubs for the students to try. Students have the opportunity to meet other MS students and make new friends as the clubs are intermingled for grades 6-8. Some current clubs include board games, food, volleyball, crafts, and more! ¡Los estudiantes de Clarke Middle School se desafían unos a otros, trabajan juntos y aprenden nuevas habilidades durante el tiempo del Club CMS cada semana! Thursday is Building Community/Community Service during Tribe Time at Clarke Middle School. Ms. Smith engaged her students in a team-building activity that brought laughter to kids and adults!
